In like a lion ...
March has finally arrived and as the children countdown to Spring Break just a few reminders of upcoming events in the building which may affect your child's classes.
During the week of March 13th-17th all classes are cancelled for the School Band Convention. This will not affect the Saturday classes!!!!
All weekday classes will be rescheduled during the week of June 10th in preparation for yearend examinations in the Senior School.
Summer School brochures were sent home with the children this past month. Please check the dance bags to make sure you received yours.
We are very excited to have Miss Evelyn Hart as our artist in residence for the Senior Program, 'Stagecraft the complete dancer' July 31st -August 5th.
Miss Hart is one of Canada's most treasured ballerinas and we are very lucky to have her on faculty for the summer. (Please see page two for a complete bio of Miss Hart.)
Our Dance Intensive will run July 24th-28th and this full day dance camp is sure to be exciting and fun for all our dancers. Summer Camps are a great way to sharpen our skill, keep in shape and continue the study of the most beautiful of art forms. Registrations have already started, so to guarantee your spot please register early. We hope to see you there!

Evelyn Hart
Born in Ontario, Evelyn Hart began her ballet training at the age of 14 at the Dorothy Carter School of Dance in London, Ontario. In 1973, she began studying at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional Division with David Moroni. Ms. Hart made her professional debut with the company in 1976. In 1978 she was promoted to Soloist and in 1979 to Principal dancer. Evelyn Hart has been coached by Dame Alicia Markova, Jorge Garcia, Natalia Zolotova, Vishna Popovic and Ludmila Bobomova. In 1980, Evelyn Hart won a Bronze Medal at the World Ballet Concours in Japan. Later she became the first Canadian to be awarded a Gold Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria, as well as the rarely awarded Certificate of Exceptional Artistic Achievement. Evelyn Hart is the recipient of the Order of Canada and is a member of Canada's Walk of Fame.
Photographs
Cecchetti Dance Theatre occasionally requests
permission to take photographs of students and teachers during workshops, classes and performances. These photographs will be used for the promotion and preservation of Cecchetti Dance Theatre.
Please accept this condition by signing the permission form sent home with this newsletter and return to your child's dance teacher before Spring Break.
We also ask if there any parents who wish to help promote the school and its program by signing a testimonial, we would love to hear from you.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Fall Classes 2006
September is only 6 months away, and the schedule is already drafted. If you have any questions about next year please give us a call.
We will be returning once again to the Arts Barns in the fall. Registration packages will be available the first week of May.

Community Spirit '06
On Saturday, February 18th the students of CDT performed at Community Spirit '06. This performance was a fundraiser hosted by Citie Ballet to raise money for the Girls and Boys Club of Edmonton. The students performed two pieces, the opening of The Fairy's Ball and Goggles from the Christmas Show. It was a wonderful evening and we look forward to working with the dance community next year on other projects to benefit children and inner city youth.
Summer School
Mark your calendars! July 24th-28th we will be offering full day dance programs to our Junior and lower Middle School dancers. The day will include ballet, creative movement, tap, and arts & crafts. Brochures are available and registrations can be done online at www.cecchettidance.com.
July 31st-August 5th will be our summer school for our Senior School and upper Middle School dancers. The faculty will include Evelyn Hart and Sarisa Figueroa. Brochures are available and registrations can be done online at www.cecchettidance.com.
Parking
Please be aware of the no parking signs posted around the building. The parking lot north of the building, adjacent to the tram lines, is the only lot where the parking pass is valid. This lot is monitored by the staff of the Fringe Theatre Adventures and any cars that do not have a parking pass may be issued with a parking ticket.
The parking stalls in front of the building belong to Orange Hall and we do not have parking passes for these spots. Tow trucks have been used to remove cars that are parked in these spots.
