Happy New Year ...
It is with such delight to congratulate all the dancers at CDT in their performance on December 19th. The excitement backstage was euphoric! Whether 2_ or adult, the pleasure of being on the boards was evident from all the dancers.
I would like to thank my staff at CDT who worked long and hard on their choreography and spent time to perfect each piece. The costumes were amazing and the lighting was exquisite.
As you are well aware by now, The Fairy's Ball was a six month project. This project involved music selection, costume design and fundraising. In preparing for this production, designs for A Child's Swan Lake were also commencing.
In the upcoming weeks, preparations will begin for the June Performance. Costumes for The Fairy's Ball will be disassembled and begin their transformation into Swans. Mr. Stephane Leonard from Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet will be at CDT to stage the White Swan Pas de Deux on our dancers. This will be an exciting time for all the dancers while they continue to concentrate on their studies of technique and artistry.
In the next few weeks, brochures for our Summer Schools will be sent home. Dates for the Junior School are July 24th- July 28th. Our Senior School dates are July 31st- August 5th.
On behalf of the staff of CDT we thank you for your continued support of the school and its programs.
Regards,
Margaret Dalwood
Principal

Video/DVD/Photos
A special request to all the families at CDT; if you made a copy of the School Performance on December 19th please will you make a copy for the school. As you are all aware, I have two daughters in the school and was not able to watch them perform on stage. As well, I would like to watch the performance from the front to see all the dancers. If you could please make a copy of your tape, even if it is only your child's dance it would be wonderful.
We are also looking for any photographs that were taken during the performance or backstage. Thank you again.
Stephane Leonard
Aspirant Program Director
Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet
On Saturday, February 11th, Mr. Leonard will be guest teaching at CDT. During this time, Mr. Leonard will be working with our senior students on preparation for our performance of A Child's Swan Lake, June 3rd. It will be a wonderful experience to have our students working with such a gifted teacher. Mr. Leonard's depth of knowledge from his own personal experience of performing the ballet in a principal role will provide our dancers with an opportunity which will benefit their artistic training as well as technical training.
Stephane Leonard began his dance training with private teacher Natalia Izbinsky and went on to the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersbourg. Following his study, Mr. Leonard performed with the National Ballet of Canada and the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory under the direction of Nikita Dolgushin. In 1998, Mr. Leonard joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Since his retirement in 2002, Mr. Leonard began teaching with the school and company as guest teacher and coach. He was appointed Aspirant Program Director with Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in 2003.
Mr. Leonard will be staging the White Swan Pas de Deux from Act 2 of Swan Lake. We at CDT, look forward to working with him.
