Christmas Performance
Our first performance of the 2011-2012 Season is Decmber 17th. The performance will commence at 2:00 p.m. at The Westbury Theatre.
Here is a list of important dates and times. Please write them down. A letter for each dancer will be coming home with your child's times.
Tickets go on sale November 26th. Ticket prices are as follows:
Early Bird November 26th-December 10th - $17.00
After this date all tickets are $22.00.
Payment is accepted by cash, visa, Mastercard and debit.
Due to fire code anyone requiring a seat must have a ticket.
Dress Rehearsal -- December 10th
All dancers from Creative Movement to Advanced Ballet are in ACT 2 of the show. We will need all the dancers in ACT 2 on Saturday December 10th from 9 am 11:30 am. All dancers will need a parent to check them in and out for the rehearsal.
Technical Rehearsal -- December 17th A.M.
ACT 1 ( Jazz; modern and Advanced Rep) check in at 8:45 am
ACT 2 check in at 10:15 am
Dancers are to be picked up at 12:15 pm
Lunch 12:30-1:30 ( studios and theatre will be locked)
Performance A Child's Nutcracker - December 17th
ALL DANCERS check in at 1:30 pm.
Performance commences 2:00 pm
Dancers are to be picked up at the end of the Performance approximately 3:45 pm
Festival Solos
Information will be sent home for festival solos and duets at the end of this month. Students may choose a solo or duet in ballet ( Level 3 and up), or modern (Level 6 and up). We will require the permission form to be filled out by the parents agreeing to the time commitment and fees due at the end of January. If you have any questions please ask your teacher or call the studio at 780-233-2232.

A Child's Nutcracker ...
Mark your calendars everyone! Tickets for CDT's performance of A Child's Nutcracker will go on sale Saturday November 26th.
Please keep in mind on Saturday the 10th of December a dress rehearsal with all the dancers will take place in The Westbury Theatre. This rehearsal is mandatory for everyone. More information on dress rehearsal as well as the Performance itself can be found in this newsletter.
Volunteers will be required backstage to help with costumes and firecode regulations. Any adult who is not volunteering will be asked to leave the backstage area.
Parents will be contacted in the next few weeks by the committee. If you haven't volunteered backstage before or it has been sometime since your turn, your name will be at the top of the rotation list.
As part of our open door policy, parents are welcome to observe their child's class however, we ask parents to arrive in the studio at the beginning of the class and remain in the studio for the duration of the class. Unfortunately there has been too many disruptions in classes in the past month with studio doors and cell phones. A reimnder, we do close classes to observation while the dancers are preparing for the Christmas Performance. Thank you to all the parents in your understanding of this matter.

Ballet Boutique
CDT now has a ballet boutique during Saturdayıs classes. The boutique carries t-shirts and DVDs as well as order forms for our hoodies & sweatpants (available until November 12th).
Tickets for the ballet performance will also be available from the boutique on Saturdays starting December 26th.
A gentle Parking Reminder
Parking for the TransAlta Arts Barns is north of the building next to the tramlines. Although parking passes are not required the city has converted the lot into a pay as you go lot. There is still free parking along the street. Please remember the spaces in front of the building are not available to parents. These spots belong to Orange Hall and they will tow any vehicles found to be in violation of the no parking zone.
Childrenıs Fitness Tax Credit
Starting in 2007, families have been allowed to claim a maximum of $500.00 per calendar year for eligible fees paid for each child who is under 16. (Please see the Revenue Canada website for more information.) Invoices and receipts for the 2011-12 Season are in the process of being sent home. These are your official copies, please do not lose them. A replacement fee may be charged. If you are in need of your invoice/receipts from January June of 2011 (please remember the total amount claimable is $500.00 per child for the calendar year) please let the school know. All receipts may be picked up with Meghan at the front desk.
Influenza
CDT would like the families to know all precautions are being taken to keep the school clean. Barres are disinfected before every class and the building is cleaned daily.
A bottle of hand sanitizer is available at the front of house for anyone wishing to use it. We know the most effective way to keep germs at bay is to wash our hands with soap and water and to sneeze or cough into our elbows. We do remind our dancers to wash their hands before and after class. We ask parents to please reinforce this with their children. Thank you.
